Mike Oldfield - Killing Fields, The (Soundtrack) [LP] (180 Gram Vinyl, remastered, import)

Mike Oldfield's second album release of 1984 was his soundtrack to the
Roland Joffe film, The Killing Fields. The multi-award winning film was set
during the civil war in Kampuchea in the 1970s, based on the experiences
of two journalists Dith Pran and Sydney Schanberg. Oldfield was asked to
write the score and brought in his old friend David Bedford to orchestrate it
with him. The soundtrack was nominated for a British Academy Film Award
and a Golden Globe and contains contributions from the Orchestra Of The
Bavarian State Opera and the Tolzer Boys Chour. The 17 tracks contains
the soothing, unusual 'Etude', based on a guitar piece by Fransciso Tarrega,
arranged by Oldfield , which played under the film's closing credits. The
remastered album contains two bonus tracks, the single edits of 'Etude' and
'Evacuation' and comes with a 12-page booklet containing an essay which
includes a new interview with Oldfield.
