Discovery was his ninth studio album, originally released in June 1984. It
was recorded in the Swiss Alps ''at 2000 metres within sight of Lake Geneva
on clear days''. Following on from the success of the previous year's Crises,
Discovery was co-produced by Oldfield with drummer Simon Phillips and
featured the striking vocals of Maggie Reilly and Barry Palmer. The album
contains two of Oldfield's long-term favourites, the Europe-wide hit 'To
France' and the remarkable 12-minute-plus instrumental 'The Lake'. Newly
remastered for 2016, the album also includes in-era B-sides and single mixes.
